About the Program
History
The PPGCI/UFSCar was established on March 11, 2016, by Ordinance No. 1655, in accordance with ConsUni Resolution No. 831 of March 4, 2016, and published in the Official Gazette (DOU) on March 16, 2016. Its first coordinator was Prof. Dr. Luciana de Souza Gracioso, and the first call for applications was released on March 29, 2016.
Objective
The objective of PPGCI/UFSCar is to strengthen the field of Information Science through the transfer of scientific, technological, social, and innovative knowledge production, considering its methodological, technological, social, and integrative perspectives.
Mission
The Mission of PPGCI/UFSCar is to train critical and innovative professors, researchers, and professionals in the production of relevant knowledge for Information Science and to contribute to the development of society.
Vision
The Vision of PPGCI/UFSCar is to be a leading Graduate Program in Information Science, with national and international visibility and recognized academic and social impact.
Scope
In this context, the goal is to train Masters in Information Science with scientific and investigative skills and the capacity to promote critical analysis and the advancement of knowledge within this field.
At the same time, this researcher will be prepared to act in a complex and diversified scenario of problem-solving involving information, being able to optimize resources and strategies that streamline its flow and enhance innovation actions.
In addition to these characteristics, the acquisition of theoretical and methodological resources and instruments will enable full engagement in the academic environment, especially regarding teaching practices in higher education.
In summary, the desired profile is the formation of a critical citizen with explicit competencies for research, teaching, and innovation.
